grant macintyre (b zimbabwe 1969)
i grew up in africa: zimbabwe, malawi and south africa. while living in capetown I studied graphic design and photography. my love for documentary style photography came from shooting different aspects of the struggle against apartheid, culminating in the release of nelson mandela from prison and his inauguration in 1994.
in my early twenties I moved to london to continue my photography studies and spent the next decade captivated by europe, travelling as often as possible, indulging my passion for art, photography and design.
i opened my photography business in 1999 whilst living in sydney and byron bay. for the past 6 years I have been based in bayside melbourne, australia.
my work is inspired by that of legendary photographers henri cartier-bresson and obie oberholzer, contemporary magnum photographers alex webb, steve mccurry, trente parke and paolo perregrin, the complexity of humanity, and the simple beauty of nature all around.
